Helpful research paper writing tutorials
Every college student will be required to write a research paper on a scientific topic at one point or another during their college career. This is especially true for students majoring perusing degrees such as biology, chemistry, or any area of the medical field. Because of this it is important for students to know the proper format to use when writing a scientific research paper. In this article you will find a few different templates to use when composing this sort of research paper along with explanations about when to use each different format.
The first layout that I am going to present to you is the format that you would use if you were composing a research document for a biology class. This format is called CSE and is generally specific to biology and engineering as the format lends itself to the clear representation of biological and engineering research. A template for the format ca be found below.
Abstract: Short one or two paragraph summary of your paper.
Each of these sections needs to be titled with the title centered and the paragraphs below flush to the left margin. Graphs and charts as well as pictures of the experiment may be added in moderation to enhance the research or solution sections.
The next format I will talk about is ACS which is primarily used for chemistry research articles. In this format the author will need to provide more information up front about the hypothesis and steps taken within the experiment. As you can see in the below template, there are some similarities between the CSE and ACS styles of formatting.
Either of these styles can be set up as either one or two column articles. This could be either your preference or your professor’s depending on the class and the instructor. As with most research based compositions remember to insert footnotes as needed. By prescribing to the above templates you should experience a high level of success when constructing your research paper.
